The Academy Restaurant is more than just an excellent place to order food – we also offer a number of different events and activities for parties and conferences.

We offer cocktail making classes which allow you, your party or your group a chance to unleash your inner bartender. Always fancied yourself as a bit of a mixologist? Is the allure of the glamorous, jet setting lifestyle of a professional cocktail maker something of a hidden desire? Then look no further than our cocktail making classes.

We offer a number of different packages for you and your party, and these can be combined with any event or conference you are having in The Experience to make a truly memorable day out, and are an excellent addition to our Stag and Hen Experience packages.

Mixology Masterclass

Mixology Masterclass (up to 18 people)

Your party will be greeted with a prosecco cocktail on arrival before being given a brief introduction to the day.

They will be shown a selection of bartending equipment that will be used during the session and introduced to mixology techniques including layering, muddling, shaking, stirring, building and the art of free pouring.

Our ‘Liquid Creation Specialist’ will then coach your party through the creation of four cocktails using the skills learned in the earlier part of the masterclass, with opportunities to sample along the way.

Cocktail making kits can be added into this for you and your guests.

Cocktail Challenge

Cocktail Challenge (up to 18 people)

You and your party are greeted with a refreshing cocktail on arrival and given a brief introduction to the day. In the first part of the session, using your sense of smell, your party will be challenged with identifying a range of aromatics used as flavour identifiers in spirit production. Marks awarded for accuracy!

You will also be shown a range of techniques used in the creation of four different cocktails. Then, in teams of two, the drinks must be copied and presented to the judging mixologist… with marks being given out of ten.

In the final part of the session, you will be shown some simple flair moves… the art of throwing and juggling bottles while making a drink. Marks will be given for style and effort.

The winning duo will each be presented with their own cocktail making kits to keep as a memento of the day.

Ready Steady Mix

Ready Steady Mix (up to 18 people)

After being presented with a refreshing cocktail on arrival, your party will be given a brief introduction to the day.

The day will then commence with your party being shown how to make a selection of classic cocktails with a chance to sample them.

In the next part of the session, you will learn about the characteristics of base spirits; modifiers and flavouring agents.

In the final part of the session your party will be split into teams of two and given a ‘goodie bag’ of ingredients and asked to create a cocktail of their own. Each team will name and present the cocktail to the group.

Our experts will be on hand to offer advice and guidance, with each member of the winning team being awarded a cocktail making kit of their own to keep!
