In our next instalment of our meet the team blog, we chat to Elaine, our super-friendly head receptionist and events coordinator who has been working at The Experience for just over a year.

What is a typical day like for you? It’s varied but that’s why I like it because it’s not the same every day. I deal with telephone and email enquiries, book people in for karting, laser tag, and the sensory room, greet people when they arrive, and run the reception area. I also organise events at The Experience from corporate meetings to stag and hen parties.

What’s the best thing about working here? The people, 100%. They’re a great bunch and everyone gets on well. It’s a really fun environment to work in, especially at the weekend – I actually put myself forward to work on Saturdays because of how busy and fun it is! There are always kids’ parties, stag parties, and family sessions which makes for a brilliant atmosphere!

What’s the best thing to happen to you while you’ve been working here? Definitely when Travis Barker from Blink 182 came in! We weren’t expecting it, we just had a seemingly normal booking in and someone called to change the time of it and explained on the phone that they were Travis Barker’s security guard and the booking was for Travis and his family. Of course, we thought we were getting pranked but we organised it anyway. When the time of the booking came we saw a massive blacked out car pull up and out came Travis Barker with his children and his security guard – I couldn’t believe it was him! They all had a great time on the go-karts and he was really lovely – I even got free Blink 182 concert tickets out of it!

What do you like to do in your free time? I have two kids aged 11 and 13 so they take up a lot of my time! But I love socialising and meeting up with friends.

What’s your favourite thing on the menu in the Refuel Café? Club sandwich by a country mile! It’s got chicken, bacon, cheese and salad and is toasted – it’s amazing!
