Whether you’re a go-karting pro or a racing rookie, you’ll know that there are several pieces of karting equipment that every driver needs. Don’t worry—everything you require to enjoy a fun day of karting is provided at The Experience. Here’s a breakdown of these essential items:
Helmets and Visors:
This is probably the most important item you’ll need when go-karting. The helmet itself protects your head in the case of any bumps and the visor makes sure your eyes are shielded from any small pieces of debris on the track. At The Experience, you’ll wear LS2 helmets and we have various sizes to fit all. If you have your own helmet, you’re welcome to bring it but one of our track staff will have to check it first to make sure it’s suitable. Your face will be kept snug with an Experience balaclava that costs £2 to initially buy, but this is yours to keep and you can bring this with you each time you kart. Under 14s are also required to wear a neck brace.
Our dynamic go-karting track is indoors, so you don’t need to worry about rain or anything else that the Scottish climate conjures up, but you still need to wear a race suit to keep you protected in the rare event of an accident, and warm in the more-likely event of feeling the Scottish chill in the air. We have suits to fit all— they come in sizes XS to XXXL and kids’ sizes are small, medium, and large. Our suits are black, unless you’re on your stag do then you’ll be treated to a stunning bright pink number.
Gloves are essential for two reasons. Firstly, they’ll protect your hands from any small pieces of debris on the karting track and secondly, they allow you to get better grip on the steering wheel of the go-kart. We provide high-quality gloves in various sizes, however it’s no problem for you to bring your own provided they’re suitable for karting.
We’re happy for you to wear your own shoes when karting at The Experience, but these need to be suitable for driving the kart. Shoes should be flat and secure, most trainers fit the bill for safe karting shoes.
